Zoo Licence

If you want to start a zoo in the Netherlands, you will need a zoo licence. You can obtain this licence from the DR Help desk (DR-loket) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation (EL&I). You must meet the conditions set out in the Zoos Decree (Dierentuinenbesluit). In certain cases, the obligation to hold a licence does not apply. These cases are listed in the Animal Welfare Exemption Scheme (Vrijstellingsregeling dierenwelzijn).
