WTA licence for audit firms

You need a licence pursuant to the Audit Firms Supervision Act (Wet toezicht accountantsorganisaties, WTA) if you operate an audit firm in the Netherlands that performs statutory audits. Submit applications for this licence to the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (Autoriteit Financiële Markten, AFM).

There are various WTA licences, depending on the type of organisation you audit. You can apply for a WTA licence by using the electronic forms developed by the AFM, which are available from the AFM’s online Service Desk (Loket AFM).

Register of audit firms

Companies issued a WTA licence will be listed in the register of audit firms of the AFM. The AFM supervises the conduct of all companies listed in this register, which can be consulted on the AFM website.

Online application procedure via Message Box

You can submit WTA licence applications also online via Message Box.
