Waste separation

In many cases, businesses in the Netherlands are obliged to separate their waste. Separation of hazardous waste (i.e. posing a threat to people, animals or the environment) is always compulsory. For all other waste streams, separation is only compulsory if the additional waste separation costs do not exceed €45. The (Dutch-language) InfoMil additional cost test indicates whether you are obliged to separate non-hazardous waste.

Waste product cards

Knowledge centre Infomil publishes waste product cards for:

  • electrical and electronic equipment
  • hazardous waste
  • organic waste and landscape waste
  • glass
  • wood
  • plastic and car tyres
  • metals
  • paper and cardboard
  • stone/rubble
  • textiles

These cards explain:

  • what you do and do not have to separate out;
  • the best means of collection to use;
  • the costs and benefits of separate collection;
  • where you can obtain more information about the waste stream.

The waste product cards are only available in Dutch.
