Physical stress

Physical exertion includes:

  • lifting;
  • pushing;
  • pulling;
  • repetitive movements;
  • working with an awkward posture.

Employers in the Netherlands must take measures to limit the physical exertion experienced by their employees. By adapting the work situation, the risks posed to the health and safety of employees can be avoided. You might consider the following for example:

  • working methods that reduce exertion;
  • workstations with ergonomic features.

In addition, employers must provide employees with information and instructions with regard to working in a manner that protects their health and safety.
