Requesting leg rings for protected birds

If you breed protected indigenous or exotic birds, you must fit each bird with a closed leg ring. You can obtain these rings from the following organisations:

  • Algemene Nederlandse Bond van Vogelhouders (ANBVV);
  • Kleindier Liefhebbers Nederland (KLN);
  • Nederlandse Bond van Vogelliefhebbers (NBVV);
  • Parkieten Sociëteit;
  • Vereniging Aviornis International Nederland (Aviornis);
  • Vereniging €uro-PARROT internationaal;
  • Vereniging Belangenbehartiging Europese Cultuurvogel (BEC).

Please note: The technical requirements imposed by the Netherlands in respect of leg rings may differ from those of other EU Member States. If a leg ring is already allowed in another EU Member State, the authorities may ban its sale in the Netherlands only in exceptional cases.
