Collecting and processing car tyres

If you manufacture or import car tyres in the Netherlands, you must adhere to the Dutch Car Tyre Management Decree (Besluit beheer autobanden) and the Car Tyre Management Regulation (Regeling beheer autobanden), which specify the rules for collecting and processing used car tyres. For example, these rules state that you must:

• collect one used car tyre for each tyre that you deliver;
• collect a number of car tyres from the municipality (the number is based on your market share);
• process the collected car tyres in a useful and responsible way.

As an importer or producer of car tyres, you must inform the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment about how you plan to satisfy these requirements. You must also send an annual report to the Ministry, stating the results from the previous year.
