Blood samples for testing for bird flu

If you have a poultry farm in the Netherlands, you are required to have blood samples taken from your poultry and send these samples to a certified laboratory. The frequency with which these samples need to be taken and the number of animals involved depends on the type of poultry you keep. You are required to keep the test results in your business records for a period of two years. These rules are laid down in the Avian Influenza Monitoring Regulation of the Product Board for Poultry and Eggs (PPE). This is one of the boards of the Product Boards for Livestock, Meat and Eggs (PVE).
