Attachment of wages
When the employee is unable to fulfil his/her personal financial obligations, a bailiff can attach part of the wages pursuant to a court decision. The employer is legally obliged to cooperate with this attachment of earnings.
Attachment-free basis
The bailiff cannot attach the employee's entire salary. The employee is entitled to an attachment threshold. This is the part of the wages that may be kept for living expenses and fixed costs. The attachment threshold is at least 90% of the social security norm including holiday pay. The employer has to transfer the part of the wages eligible for attachment by the bailiff.
