Advertising text for financial products

If you advertise complex financial products, you must include a risk indicator (risicometer) and a warning statement. This statement reads: 'Loop geen onnodig risico. Lees de Financiële Bijsluiter'. ('Do not take any unnecessary risks. Read the Financial Information Leaflet.’) You are obliged to use the warning statements provided by the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (Autoriteit Financiële Markten, AFM). You can download the texts and illustrations for the various media from the AFM website.

Advertising credit services

Financial enterprises that advertise credit services are required to include a warning statement and a warning symbol in the advertisement. The statement must read: 'Let op! Geld lenen kost geld'. ('Please note! Borrowing money will cost you money.’) You can find the symbol on the website of the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM). This website provides detailed information with regard to the requirements that must be met by the warning statement and the symbol.
