Advertising permit

If you want to advertise on a building in the Netherlands, for example on a billboard or an illuminated sign, you will need a permit in most cases. The permit you need is the All-in-one Permit for Physical Aspects (omgevingsvergunning). This permit was referred to as an ‘advertising permit’ (reclamevergunning) until 1 October 2010. You can obtain the permit from your local municipal authority. More information about how to apply can be found on the 'All-in-one Permit for Physical Aspects' page. In some municipalities, you also have to pay advertising tax or municipal tax on encroachments on or above public space (precariorechten) for advertisements visible from the public road.
