Message Box is a secure e-mail system that enables users to exchange digital messages with Dutch government agencies at national, provincial and municipal level, as well as with the water boards. Message Box is intended for use by entrepreneurs based in the European Economic Area (EEA) – which therefore includes the Netherlands – who sell their services in the Netherlands.
You can only use Message Box for procedures that are subject to the Services Act (Dienstenwet) and for applying for a permit for import, export and transit of strategic goods and services. You can also ask Dutch government agencies questions about how these rules are applied in the Netherlands.
A government agency has to handle every e-mail sent using Message Box. That is not always the case with ordinary e mail. In the case of a licence application, you will receive the licence – and an invoice where applicable – via Message Box.
