Mineral Sector Guide

The Mineral Sector Guide provides an overview of the rules and regulations, licences, subsidies and taxes that apply to businesses in this sector. Mining industry laws and regulations are both extensive and complex. The Ministry of Economic Affairs (EZ) and State Supervision of Mines (Staatstoezicht op de Mijnen, SodM) offer access to this information via the NL Oil and Gas Portal (NL Olie- en Gasportaal, NLOG). Various mining decrees are required to be able to explore for and extract natural gas, petroleum, rock salt and geothermal resources or to be able to store such substances as natural gas and CO2 underground. The following application forms for these purposes are available for download on the NL Oil and Gas Portal:

  • exploration licence;
  • extraction licence and extraction plan;
  • storage licence and storage plan;
  • transfer, subdivision or combination of licences;
  • cooperation agreement;
  • installation of a temporary or permanent mining installation;
  • environmental mining licence.
