About Answers for Business
As part of the Single Market Centre, Answers for Business helps businesses to navigate the large amount of information provided by the Dutch government. At a glance, you can see which laws, rules and regulations, licences and taxes apply to your situation. There is also information on subsidies you may be eligible for. Last but not least, Answers for Business is the Point of Single Contact (PSC) and the Product Contact Point (PCP) for the Netherlands.
Single Market Centre
The Dutch Single Market Centre aims at bringing together all the practical support tools that help deliver the benefits of the EU Single Market. This includes not only the Point of Single Contact for businesses, that offers up-to-date information about rules, regulation, grants and taxes, but also services such as SOLVIT, an informal online problem solving network for businesses as well as citizens. Furthermore, one of the tools to improve the working of the European Single Market is the Internal Market Information System (IMI), that simplifies the exchange of information between government bodies responsible for implementing the Single Market.
Point of Single Contact
The Points of Single Contact are national e-government portals for entrepreneurs active in the service sector. It is a legal requirement to have a PSC in each EU country since December 2009 as set out in the European Services Directive. For the Netherlands the obligations of this Directive have been transposed into the Dutch Services Act. All national PSCs are part of the European EUGO network. The Dutch PSC helps you start your business or provide services in the Netherlands and helps you deal with a wide range of practical issues.
Product Contact Point
Every Member State has a Product Contact Point for mutual recognition of products. If you want more information about the technical rules that apply to a specific type of product in any given Member State or you want more information about the requirements in the Netherlands, contact Answers for business, the Dutch Product Contact Point.
Specifically for your sector
In addition to government rules that apply to all businesses, this website also presents information about rules and regulations that apply specifically to your sector. We try to always answer your question, whether your business is in the construction, hotel and catering, retail or services sector. We also provide the addresses of the main Dutch sector organisations.
Cooperating with the public sector
As part of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Answers for Business works closely with the entire Dutch public sector, including ministries, municipal authorities, provincial authorities and water boards. Answers for Business includes links to the websites of these organisations. If possible, we will refer you to information in English on their website. When English information is not available, you will be either referred to the page where the specific information is offered in Dutch or we will refer you to the organisation's contact information page. As far as information in Dutch is concerned: there are various online tools for translating pages, such as Google Translate Web Page Translator.
Please note: each individual government organisation is solely responsible for the information it provides.
